The Design Brief
The importance of a detailed brief cannot be underestimated. A solid design brief ensures that no time is wasted, and that you receive targeted options from the very beginning. The brief focuses attention on the areas that best serve your business, ensuring the final result is appropriate and effective.
We approach every new project with the goal of creating our best piece yet. To get started and receive a graphic design brief submit a request on our Contact Us page.
After we have reviewed your information, we will have a lot more questions as we narrow down the scope of your project in order to provide you with the results you need.
Research & Brainstorming
Once we have spent some time considering your answers, and we can then begin the second stage — research and brainstorming. What do I take into account here? Your competition, trends in the market, what sets you apart, your history, your future, your current brand, and the one you aspire towards.
Again, it’s important to provide as much information as possible in the design brief / questionnaire, to allow for a comprehensive approach towards research and brainstorming.
Concept | Sketches
Sketching ideas helps us to generate a large number of possible directions. Most of them will eventually be made redundant, but the point is to think laterally and not rule anything out in the quest for effective design.
We will be happy to review our sketches with you as we develop your project.
Presentation | Feedback
We prefer to meet one on one to review a concept. There is a great deal of strategy and research that goes into each of our concepts that we prepare for you and find it best to share face to face. This allows us to hear your comments and suggestions clearly. Alternately, this step can be done electronically via email at the client's request. We typically will show you what we believe to be
the best possible option. This is by no means set in stone, and depends
entirely upon the project scope. If you would prefer to see a variety
of options, please let us know.
Layout Design
This is where we take our ideas and transferring them to computer. We are able to fine tune your concept based on your suggestions and present you with a clean layout for your review.
Revisions | Production
Following your review, we can then make any revisions suggested, or prepare your files for production. Our aim is to create pieces that works for you, works for your business, and works for many years to come.
File Supply | Archiving
Once we receive your final approval, we then prepare the files for web or press. If we have handled your printing as well, press ready files will be sent to press. If you are handlign your own printing, you will be supplied with press ready files on disk along with prints for layout/color.
If yours was a logo project, we will supply you with several versions of your logo for reproduction. Typically you will receive these files as vector art (mainly used for printed projects) can be scaled
to any size without loss of quality, unlike a raster file (mainly used
online), which becomes pixelated when enlarged.
I supply original files for use in print and online. If you have any specific file requirements, just ask.
Customer Service
My service to you doesn’t end once you’ve paid the final invoice. We are happy to say many of our clients become friends. Many keep in touch, to ask our opinion on design, provide examples of their logo in context, or just to say hi.
